Talking about the most important things

On 14 May, as part of the XXII International Y. N. Ozerov Military Film Festival, students and lecturers of TulSU took part in a creative meeting with Igor Prokopenko, the author of the script and director of the film “Stalin and the Victory”.
Igor Prokopenko is the author of more than 800 documentaries, a member of the Academy of Russian Television, a 7-time winner of the TEFI award, and the host of the programme “Military Secret”.
Before the start of the film, Igor Stanislavovich discussed the peculiarities of work on television with the audience, told about the history of formation and development of the programme ‘Military Secret’, which has been broadcasting for 28 years on Ren-TV channel.
- Today it is very important to understand and know history, because all the answers to the questions: ‘What to do now?’, ‘What will happen next?’ we can find in it, because history is cyclical, history repeats itself.
Igor Stanislavovich has been preparing the ten-part project ‘Ask Stalin’ for the past four years. Despite the fact that Stalin is a controversial personality, his role in the formation of our country is undeniably great. In the film Joseph Vissarionovich himself answers contemporary questions in his telegrams, letters and documents.
- Four years ago, I could not have imagined how complex, interesting and unexpected this project would turn out to be. I really wanted to understand how everything was organised there.
The guest confessed that he was surprised by the contemporary nature of the responses he received. The issues, historical events, and processes occurring within the country were all identical.
After watching the film “Stalin and the Victory” Igor Stanislavovich answered questions from the audience, which, as expected, were related to the history of our country and possible options for the development of its future.
