International Tea Party

On December 14, a traditional meeting of Institute of International Education activists with the supervising vice-rector Olesya Evgenievna Labadze took place at Tula State University.

A distinctive feature of this event, emphasized International Students Dean Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, was that the students and representatives of the Institute’s management were joined by the foreigners taking a pre-university training course, as well as the Russian students from Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences. Thus, the composition of participants grew both in quantitative and qualitative terms, since the students from different countries are united by common interesting ideas and projects.

Tula State University, Olesya Evgenievna Labadze noted in her welcoming speech, not only provides foreign citizens with comfortable conditions for living and studying, but also supplies them with opportunities for self-development and creative exploration.

It is very important, the vice-rector said, that such meetings take place at the end of the year, when it is customary to sum up results and discuss plans for the future.

The best confirmation of Olesya Evgenievna’s words was the video report on the events of 2023 in which our international students took part. But even it, being so voluminous, did not contain all the information about the rich and interesting life of the students from Institute of International Education.

A graduate of  “General Medicine” Program, Sweid Ali from Lebanon, joined the tea party via video conference. Currently, the young doctor is working in one of the hospitals in Beirut. Thanks to the knowledge gained at university, he assured, everything is going well in his professional field.

Sweid Ali wished the students of Institute of International Education success in their studies, and expressed gratitude to the teachers for their work, mentoring and dedication.

Participants moved from visualization to narrative.

Med-student Abdulhalem Mustafa Mohammed Abdulhalem from Iraq spoke about the activities of the II Summer English School “Dive into Science!”,  which he headed this year. His medical colleague Umedjon Nasredinov from Tajikistan vividly described the forums and congresses organized by the Association of International Students of Russia, in which he was lucky enough to take part.

A huge advantage of all these events, added Olesya Evgenievna Labadze, is, of course, cultural exchange. And if we add here the joy of communication and the opportunity to find new friends, then comments, as they say, are unnecessary.

The award ceremony took place.

Vietnamese student Do Thanh Huyen and Russian student Nikita Uskov, as Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova reported, jointly implemented a very interesting project. The creative international duo prepared, organized and successfully conducted a walking tour around the historical center of Tula as part of the XVIII International Forum-Festival of International and Russian Students “We Welcome All the Flags!” And how can one not believe in the words that creativity can work wonders and unite people of different nationalities. The International Students Dean said that the project will be issued an implementation certificate.

On behalf of the activists from Institute of International Education, Umedjon Nasredinov presented Olesya Evgenievna Labadze with a Certificate of Gratitude for her active work on the internationalization of education and promoting student initiatives. Abdulhalem Mustafa Mohammed Abdulhalem presented the vice-rector with a set of Arabic sweets as a gift.

These guys are generally very active in life and never cease to generate interesting ideas.

During an open dialogue with Olesya Evgenievna, Umedzhon made a proposal to create a branch of the Association of International Students of Russia on the basis of Tula State University to conduct events aimed at adapting and uniting representatives of different nations.

Mustafa, in turn, spoke in favor of opening a Center for Intercultural Communication at Tula State University.

Do Thanh Huyen did not stand aside as well. The girl campaigned for the implementation of various environmental projects at university.

The vice-rector promised the students to take all these initiatives into account.

According to the already established tradition, students marked their countries on a special map “A World Without Borders”. This special ritual was performed for the third time. Its semantic meaning is deep - the world of friendship, mutual understanding and creative interaction truly has no boundaries.
The meeting ended with a group photo session.
