Great opportunities for the engineers of the future

The XII International Youth Industrial Forum "Engineers of the Future" began on Tula land on the 24-th of June. This is the third time our region hosts this hallmark event.

The Forum united 1000 participants from 70 countries and 60 subjects of the Russian Federation.

“Engineers of the Future” features 520 speakers, more than 600 lectures, panel discussions, master classes and training sessions. This year, the format of the Forum has changed, taking into account external challenges and the tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. 15 faculties were transformed into 6 clusters in key areas of technological sovereignty, and an interdisciplinary module based on the application of end-to-end technologies was introduced.

Tula State University is an active participant in the “Engineers of the Future” Forum.

The Tula Engineering School of Intellectual Defense Systems, which includes the Laboratory of Inertial Sensors of Initial Information, Orientation and Navigation Systems, the Laboratory of Digital Control Systems for Complex Dynamic Objects, and the “Unmanned Aviation Systems” Student Design Bureau, presented the educational programme of our university "Unmanned Systems of the Tula Region".

TulSU tent demonstrated different stands: a stand for the aircraft structures strength testing, a stand for testing electric motors with air propeller, an unmanned aerial vehicle for training, an unmanned aerial vehicle with the possibility of vertical take-off and landing, an aircraft for training UAV operators "Flying Wing", a training aircraft of the classical scheme, a VTAIL aircraft (extended range with autopilot control), an electromechanical actuator with a 160 N force and 0.5 degree accuracy control system, a stand for testing navigation algorithms based on unmanned aerial vehicles and aircraft computer vision, a virtual testing ground for testing inertial sensors in laboratory conditions.

Olga Anatolyevna Fomichyova, Director of Tula Engineering School “Intelligent Defense Systems”, Sergey Vladimirovich Feofilov, Deputy Director, Victor Morozov and Sergey Shalynkov, Heads of the SDB “Unmanned Aerial Systems”, and staff from the laboratories briefed everyone on the developments.

Ilya Bekhler, a junior researcher at the Laboratory of Inertial Sensors of Initial Information, Orientation and Navigation Systems, is taking part in the Engineers of the Future forum for the second time. This year, he will be a speaker. He will give a lecture on the "Faculty of Unmanned Systems Work Programme ", prepared under the scientific supervision of Valery Vladimirovich Matveev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Control Devices Department.

- Of course, I am very happy to be a part of this forum! - Ilya admitted. - It is an acquaintance with interesting people, exchange of experience, new knowledge and vivid impressions.

- “Engineers of the Future” is cool! - said Dmitry Streltsov, a young researcher in the same laboratory. - I see my participation in this forum as a recognition of the practical value of my developments. My supervisor is also Valery Vladimirovich Matveev.

On the territory of the Forum there is also a sports tent of Tula State University.

Nikolay Nilolayevich Lopin, Master of Sports in Sambo, lecturer of the Physical Education and Sport Department of the Institute of Pedagogy, Physical Education, Sport and Tourism, together with students of our university holds a master class in Sambo.

The honour of Tula State University is defended by a team of 8 people. The team consists of Anton Komarov (captain), a bachelor's degree graduate of the Polytechnic Institute, and graduates of the specialization`s "Rocket Armament" department of the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High-Precision Systems Victoria Makarova, Angelina Kolotova, Daniil Zavrazhnov, Igor Ivanov and Kirill Ryazantsev, a student of the Radioelectronics Department at the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High-Precision Systems, Danila Lashkin, and a student of the Department of Information Security at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Vasily Matasov.

- This is the first time I take part in the “Engineers of the Future” Forum, said Anton. - Such an event gives an opportunity to communicate with enthusiastic people and to get acquainted with the leading companies` areas of activity in our country.
- I already have experience of participating in various competitions and conferences, but this is my first time at the “Engineers of the Future” Forum, said Victoria. - I really like to show the versatility of our university. I believe that students glorify their home university with their achievements. We will try to do our best this time too!
TulSU's Institute of International Education sent a team of 16 people to the Forum. They are future engineers, economists and doctors. They are studying "Biotechnology" and "Intercultural Communication".
On the first day of the “Engineers of the Future” Forum was visited by Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev, Deputy Governor of Tula Region, Nikolay Anatolyevich Volobuyev, Deputy General Director of “Rostech” State Corporation and a member of the Board of the Defense Industry Support League, Dmitry Vladimirovich Savelyev, member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Pavel Vladimirovich Abramov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, and representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the region, members of the Tula Regional Branch of the Russian Mechanic Engineers` Union, rector of TulSU Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko and other officials.
In the main tent, the honorary guests interacted with the participants. They discussed key vectors of youth development to strengthen the country's technological sovereignty.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev pointed out in his speech, has set new national goals and challenges for the country. These are not only technological sovereignty, but also technological leadership. This leadership will largely depend on the young men and women who are currently studying in our universities and working in our companies.
The speaker acknowledged that we live in a difficult time, a time of new challenges and the engineering industry today is in need of exceptionally well-trained, qualified personnel.
- “You are the idea! You are the new skills! You are the new forward motion, without which business development is impossible!” he addressed to the participants. - That is why I am convinced that everyone has a chance here. The managers of our leading companies have a chance to replenish their personnel, their staffs with qualified young specialists, energetic, vigorous, who want to develop and move forward, and you have a chance to find a decent job. The Forum programme is quite interesting - it is both educational and business. I think everyone will find something he or she likes here. I wish you a successful competition and hope you will benefit from this event in a positive way!
Dmitry Vyacheslavovich and his colleagues visited the tent of the Tula Engineering School "Intellectual Defence Systems" and got acquainted with its developments.
The opening ceremony of the XII International Youth Industrial Forum Engineers of the Future began with a minute of silence. Guests and participants honoured the memory of those killed in the missile attack on Sevastopol and the terrorist attack in Dagestan.
In his address to the participants of the “Engineers of the Future” Forum, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin expressed confidence that the results of the Forum would become an important contribution to the development of the domestic civil and defense industry.
It is symbolic, he said, that the land of Tula, that has long been famous for its strong traditions of arms manufacturing, working dynasties, true masters, talented creators and nuggets, has been the venue for such meetings for the third year in a row.
The Forum, the Russian President noted, brings together managers and specialists from major industrial enterprises, defense and machine-building enterprises, scientists, teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of relevant universities, and also involves young people in solving topical technical problems, opens up opportunities for them to use their knowledge and creative powers, and inspires them with extraordinary and groundbreaking ideas. It promotes the popularisation of the engineering and working professions, which are particularly in demand today, when the country is implementing large-scale plans to increase its production potential at a qualitatively new technological level.
Vladimir Vladimirovich expressed confidence that the Forum would be a success and that its results would make an important contribution to the development of the domestic civil and defense industry and the Russian economy as a whole. He wished all participants fruitful work and informative dialogue.
The Forum participants were addressed by Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Gutenev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, members of the crew of the International Space Station, participants of the special military operation.
In his welcoming speech, Nikolay Anatolyevich Volobuyev noted with satisfaction that every year the Engineers of the Future Forum becomes more solemn, and this time participants from different regions and countries came to the Tula region to compete.
Developing priority areas to ensure technological sovereignty, creating new models of helicopters and aircraft equipment - all this is impossible without young people, the speaker accentuated. At the Forum, participants will share their development experiences, get into a team spirit, and they will go home with new ideas!
Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev also noted that every year the “Engineers of the Future” Forum becomes more informative and interesting. The number of flags of foreign countries and subjects of the Russian Federation is constantly growing.
A wide road and great opportunities are opening up for the young people. Dmitry Vyacheslavovich expressed confidence that today's Forum participants would demonstrate their readiness for a technological breakthrough to the Russian President.
Pavel Vladimirovich Abramov described the Forum participants as the elite of engineering thought, unique engineering minds of the defense industrial complex. These are the people, who forge victory, he said.
Valery Vyacheslavovich Sapozhnikov, Hero of the Special Military Operation, Guards Petty Officer, on behalf of the servicemen of the zone of the Special Military Operation, thanked all the Forum members for the improvement of weapon designs and the invention of new ones. 
- Your support is very much needed there! he said. - We need developments that will save our guys.
