Tula State University Presented Promising Developments of the Interuniversity Scientific and Technical Center "Komposit"
Artyom Petrovich Malakho, Director of the Interuniversity Scientific and Technical Center "Komposit" at Tula State University, presented a report on thermoplastic materials for the space industry at meetings of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rostec State Corporation.
At regular meetings of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences and an extended meeting of the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rostec State Corporation, Artyom Petrovich Malakho, Director of the Interuniversity Scientific and Technical Center "Komposit" at Tula State University and PhD in Chemistry, presented a report on the development and practical application of thermoplastic polymer composite materials in the space industry.
In his presentation, Artyom Petrovich emphasized that the key focus of the ISTC "Komposit" is the development of thermoplastic polymer composite materials and additive manufacturing technologies aimed at import substitution and increasing the competitiveness of the domestic industry. The center is conducting research within the framework of the Composite project of the Priority-2030 strategic academic leadership program, focusing on the creation of thermoplastic matrix composites for highly loaded structures.
In a presentation at the Russian Academy of Sciences and Rostec, the director of the ISTC Composite presented the research results and technological developments of the ISTC Composite and its industrial partners aimed at creating and implementing thermoplastic composite materials, additive technologies, and solutions for sealed assemblies for space and special engineering.
According to A.P. Malakho, promising developments at Tula State University make it possible to create composites capable of replacing traditional metal and thermoset structures, reducing the weight of products and improving their performance characteristics.
The report concluded that the development of thermoplastic composite materials, specialized functional composites, additive manufacturing, and engineering solutions for sealing forms the technological foundation for the creation of competitive next-generation products in mechanical engineering and related industries.
Participation in meetings of the Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rostec State Corporation underscores the role of the Tula State University's ISTC "Composite" as a full-fledged partner of academic and industrial science, participating in the discussion of key technological challenges in the space and defense industries. The reports presented were aimed at developing joint solutions for integrating university developments into production chains and establishing domestic production chains for composite materials for strategic industries.
