Tula State University and Haval: Developing Talent Together
On June 3, a delegation from Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus visited Tula State University.
This is a return visit from our colleagues. On April 21, representatives from Tula State University, led by Rector Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko, visited the company and met with its management. The parties discussed issues related to developing cooperation in educational and scientific fields.
Today's meeting was a logical continuation of the initiative aimed at identifying areas of collaboration to train personnel for their industrial partner.
The guests visited the Inter-University Scientific and Technical Center "Composite," the Tula Engineering School "Intelligent High-Precision Systems," the departments of "Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science," "Industrial Automation and Robotics," and "Transport and Technological Machines and Processes," as well as the laboratories of Materials Science, Industrial Automation, Electronics and Electrical Equipment, and Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems at the Polytechnic Institute.
This tour route was not chosen randomly. The topics of the structural divisions visited by the company representatives correlated, to a certain extent, with the company's technological style.
A working session was held dedicated to the prospects for cooperation in personnel training and joint projects.
Opening the session, Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko noted that the university successfully collaborates with leading companies in the region. The university is interested in Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus becoming one of Tula State University's strategic partners.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Vladislav Viktorovich Kotov addressed the Department of Transport and Technological Machines and Processes, highlighting the wide range of opportunities it offers as a foundation for training process engineers with deep systemic competencies in designing automotive manufacturing processes.
Vitaly Yuryevich Antsev, head of the department, spoke about the transformation of the educational program "Operation of Transport and Technological Machines and Complexes" to train personnel for Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC.
The speaker elaborated on the competency model of a Tula State University graduate.
A young specialist, he explained, should be able to design manufacturing and assembly processes for automobiles and automotive components, manage the quality of automotive products, design production systems and optimize automotive processes, and develop projects for automation and robotics in the automotive industry.
In light of these objectives, core disciplines in specialized modules such as "Automotive Manufacturing Processes," "Quality Management in Automotive Manufacturing," "Industrial Automation and Robotics," and "Production Organization" will be introduced into the professional curriculum.
To implement this program, Vitaly Yuryevich emphasized, collaboration with the departments of "Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science," "Mechanics and Plastic Forming Processes," and "Industrial Automation and Robotics" is essential. Close collaboration with the company's leading specialists will undoubtedly play a significant role. In the future, there are plans to establish a joint department at Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC.
Vitaly Yuryevich discussed the existing software that will be used in the specialized disciplines of "Industrial Engineering and Digital Technologies in Automotive Manufacturing" and the students' project work. He assured that the department's students possess the competencies necessary to master this new field. Professor Antsev focused his speech on the university's long-standing tradition of "Along the Roads of the Fatherland" motor rallies. He specified that these events could include joint testing of Haval vehicles and advertising campaigns.
Vitaly Yuryevich identified educational and research activities, the modernization of specialized laboratories, and the training of Tula State University faculty in continuing professional education programs as potential areas of cooperation with the company.
Sergey Anatolyevich Artemyev, Deputy Director for Government Relations at the automobile plant, thanked his colleagues from Tula State University for the warm welcome.
Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev, Governor of the Tula Region, emphasized the importance of the partnership between the company and Tula State University.
Havail Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC, the guest noted, is interested in jointly training personnel for the company's benefit.
Sergey Yuryevich Onufriev, Director of the Equipment Maintenance Department, spoke about his collaboration with the Department of Industrial Automation and Robotics.
Maxim Alekseevich Larionov, Head of the Quality Technology Department, focused on the development and production of components in the automotive industry, the use of machine vision for product quality control, lean manufacturing, industry standards, and quality management.
During the meeting, the participants identified priority areas for cooperation—robotics and automotive.
The colleagues discussed issues related to equipping departmental lab benches, organizing internships and work placements, targeted student training, and positioning educational programs implemented in the company's interests.
The parties agreed to review all proposals and meet in a month.
