Dive into Science
The Fourth Summer Linguistic School for young researchers “Dive into Science!” has started at the Polytechnic Educational and Health Complex. The organizer of the school is traditionally the Institute of International Education with the participation of two departments of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tula State University – “Foreign Languages” and “Linguistics and Translation”.
This time the Summer School is attended by students of the educational and professional track “Rostec Code”, the advanced engineering school “Intelligent Defense Systems”, students of the master's programs of our university, as well as students of the Institute of International Education who have a high level of English.
The already traditional Summer School “Dive into Science!” is a 10-day intensive internship to develop English language skills and scientific research and project activities in English, combined with a cultural and recreational program, also implemented in English.
Participants will also have daily sessions of the discussion club “Pump Your English Up!”, the acute topics range of which is quite wide: “Do engineers need humanities?”, “The rise of the machines: should we worry about the rapid development of artificial intelligence?”, “Fake or reality: games of artificial intelligence”, “Have we reached the peak of our civilization?”, “Do we need higher education for successful career development?”, “Will artificial intelligence replace engineers?”, “Is there life in the Universe beyond Earth?”.
The lineup of speakers giving popular science lectures this year is also impressive:

The Summer School was opened in a solemn atmosphere to the sounds of the National Anthem of the Russian Federation by the Director of the Institute of International Education Olga Dmitriyevna Gladkova. She emphasized that an important aspect of the Summer School “Dive into Science!” is the method of intensive and complete immersion in the language environment by using only one working language of communication and teaching – English, knowledge of which gives future engineers access to a greater number of sources of information and knowledge, which helps them to stay up to date with all events and make timely and correct decisions.
And there is still a lot of interesting things ahead for the participants of the Summer School, including an educational excursion, a thematic quiz, sports and cultural and recreational events in English.
