The World Lies Before You: Tula State University Welcomes New International Students
On August 28, an orientation meeting for first-year students of the Institute of International Education was held at Tula State University.
This year, our university welcomed about 200 new international students. These young men and women were admitted through both the University's internal entrance examinations (self-funded students) and the Russian Government Quota program. Among them are students who completed TSU's pre-university training programs.
All newcomers were warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute of International Education, Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova.
She informed the students that the Institute of International Education at TSU is home to representatives from 70 countries. It is no exaggeration to say that within this multinational and friendly community, the whole world lies before you. However, for every international student to successfully adapt to this diverse environment, it is essential to be aware of certain rules and possess relevant information. This orientation meeting aimed to provide the newcomers with exactly that.
Olga Dmitrievna invited the students on a journey into the history of Tula State University and its traditions. She then moved on to the crucial topic of migration legislation.
Olga Dmitrievna was joined by her colleagues.
The Head of the Academic Process Department, Sergei Ivanovich Balanichev, explained in detail how the academic process is organized at the university.
He emphasized that instruction is conducted in Russian. Therefore, it is very important to continuously improve one's language skills. Specialists affirm that the best way to do this is through immersion in the language environment. Even when you want to speak your native language with compatriots, it's better to switch to Russian. The results will not be long in coming.
Together with the Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education, Tatyana Igorevna Kornakova, the students built a "freshman roadmap." They learned how to read their class schedule, understand the hundred-point grading system, as well as how to register and confirm their SIM cards and pay tuition fees.
As one might guess, the Deputy Director for Educational and Extracurricular Work, Tamara Dmitrievna Kartashova, spoke about the vibrant and exciting extracurricular life at the university.
Immerse yourself in it, and the whole world will not only lie before you but will shine in a multitude of colors. Choose from a wide array of scientific, educational, cultural, creative, sports, patriotic, and spiritual events to suit your taste.
Studying at TSU is truly great—students of the Institute of International Education pursue degrees across all institutes of our university. The new students will soon see this for themselves.
Meet Our New Students:
Anastasia Machinskaya arrived from the Republic of Moldova. She graduated from a medical college in Beltsy with a degree in General Medicine.
"My friend is a fourth-year student at the TSU Medical Institute, and she recommended the university to me," shared Nastya. "I'm experiencing a flood of emotions right now! I'm nervous, worried, joyful, and happy. Happiness, of course, is the strongest feeling. I am moving towards my dream! I really want to become a dermatovenerologist."
Otabek Niyozov from Khujand, Republic of Tajikistan, has been at TSU for almost a year, having completed the pre-university program.
Otabek also enrolled in the Medical Institute but chose the field of Psychology. He admitted he finds it very interesting.
"Many of my acquaintances from Tajikistan studied at TSU. Two of them even work in Tula now. They were the ones who recommended Tula State University to me," he said. "It is a strong and promising institution!"
Mirna Ca from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and Jonita Borbo from the Republic of Sierra Leone also completed the pre-university program. They were admitted to TSU through the Russian Government Quota.
But it's not just this that the young women have in common. They have both already chosen their specialization—they want to become obstetrician-gynecologists.
"It's a very necessary profession!" the future doctors stated importantly.
We wholeheartedly congratulate all the international students! They are sure to become part of our friendly international family!
