Tula: A Hub for Major Scientific Endeavors
On August 26, the creative industrial cluster "Oktava" hosted the grand opening of the satellite event for the 5th Congress of Young Scientists.
The Governor of the Tula Region, Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev, highlighted the importance of the participation of scientists and young specialists in achieving the goals set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, for ensuring technological leadership. He emphasized that their knowledge, ideas, and professional experience are crucial for finding effective solutions and strategic development paths.
The head of the region expressed confidence that this event would become a platform for productive knowledge and experience exchange, establishing new contacts, and launching joint innovative projects.
Within the framework of the satellite event, scientists from 25 regions of Russia are proposing solutions for improving the environmental situation and implementing drone technology in agriculture.
Scientists from Tula State University (TSU) are taking part in the event.
"The opening ceremony featured a video presentation on the development of science and research infrastructure in the region. All participants were welcomed by the Governor of the Tula Region, Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Milyaev, and the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Denis Sergeevich Sekirinsky. They spoke about the importance of developing and supporting science in the regions and key strategic areas for our region," shared Inessa Alexandrovna Gracheva, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences and Acting Head of the Research Management Office at TSU. "It is very important that both representatives of the young scientific community and more experienced senior colleagues have gathered in Tula. They are set to work on three case studies from our region, related to controlling hogweed, filtering wastewater, and managing hazardous waste. The results will yield recommendations and potentially specific project proposals."
Inessa Alexandrovna is convinced that this is a significant event for the Tula region. It promotes expanded networking in the scientific sphere, the joint resolution of real-world tasks, and enhances the image of the Tula region as a platform for innovative ideas.
The satellite event also included a meeting of the Council for Higher Education and Science under the Governor of the Tula Region.
A report was delivered by Oleg Alexandrovich Kravchenko, D.Sc. in Technical Sciences and Rector of Tula State University.
The head of the university spoke about the development of education and science at TSU, the implementation of the "Priority 2030" program, and the federal projects "Advanced Engineering Schools" and "Professionalitet."
Oleg Alexandrovich also presented a project for an inter-university defense cluster.
The meeting was attended by Alexander Vitalievich Antsev, D.Sc. in Technical Sciences, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Tula Region, Head of the Department of "Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science," and Deputy Director of the Polytechnic Institute for Research at TSU.
His report was dedicated to the work of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Tula Region.
Alexander Vitalievich addressed the Government of the Tula Region with a proposal to consider hosting the All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies in Tula.
"The Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi is the country's main scientific event of the year. Satellite events in the regions, particularly here in Tula, reaffirm that science is not born exclusively in capitals and science cities. It lives and develops across all of Russia. This undoubtedly demonstrates the great trust in and recognition of the scientific and industrial potential of the Tula Region," stated Alexander Vitalievich. "Events like these act as a magnet for ambitious, proactive, and determined people from all over Russia. There is a powerful exchange of ideas, competencies, and contacts. Even during a single coffee break, you can discuss a problem with a colleague from another university, find like-minded people for a project, or get valuable advice from a recognized expert. This is an excellent start for new collaborations and a confident step into the future of Russian science!"
As part of the satellite event, Denis Sergeevich Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Yurievich Panteleev, First Deputy Governor - Chairman of the Government of the Tula Region, visited the TSU "BioChemTech" Research Center.
Rector Oleg Alexandrovich Kravchenko first introduced the guests to the university's campus development plans. Afterwards, together with the Center's Director, Vyacheslav Alexeevich Arlyapov, they detailed the scientific research conducted there. During a tour of the laboratories, the Center's staff provided more in-depth presentations of their scientific work.
