Tula State University: Achieving Everything and Moving Forward
On January 18, Tula State University welcomed guests - prospective students and their parents.
Our university's Open Day was, as always, vibrant, interesting, and informative.
According to the tradition, the acquaintance with Tula State University began with an exhibition of the university's departments' achievements. Guests had the opportunity not only to see everything with their own eyes but also to participate in various activities.
For example, the Tula Engineering School "Intelligent Defense Systems" offered a drone ride.
"With FPV goggles, you can feel like a drone operator," explained Sergey Alekseyevich Shalynkov, a junior research fellow at the AES (Advanced Engineering School). "The experience is, of course, unforgettable!"
The intellectual surprises at the TulSU AES didn't end there. Applicants and their parents were joyfully greeted by a programmable robotic dog. Guests also had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge developments—a model of a compact robotic system and a robotic platform with omnidirectional wheels.
Shatru Adzhat, a physician at the Medical Clinical Center and senior lecturer in the Department of Outpatient Medicine, conducted a master class for students on ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity and first aid.
The Institute of Pedagogy, Physical Education, Sports, and Tourism prepared an interactive activity called "Floor Curling."
The Control Instruments Department of the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High-Precision Systems demonstrated specialized equipment for photonics and optical engineering.
"Photonics is the science of light: its production, conversion, and processing," explained Valeriy Vladimirovich Matveyev, Doctor of Engineering Sciences and head of the department. "Today, photonics is one of the leading fields of science, combining fundamental physics, quantum computing, fiber-optic communications, and telecommunications."
Eleventh-grader Valeriya Petrukhnenko from Protvino, Moscow Region, came to the Open Day with her mother, Yevgenia Sergeyevna, and father, Denis Nikolayevich.
"Our friends who studied at Tula State University recommended this university," her parents said. "We were attracted to Tula State University by the huge variety of programs and specializations and the large number of state-funded places. Valeriya has already made her choice and has chosen the Institute of Construction and Architecture. However, she's still deciding between Oil and Gas Engineering and Mining."
The official part of the event was preceded by an art warm-up. Guests were treated to a performance by the dance group "Inside" and Kseniya Dailneva, a student at the Institute of Medicine, who performed the song "Wind of Change."
The audience applauded. Anastasiya Kosina, artistic director of the student club and host of the event, took the opportunity to announce that Tula State University has 14 creative associations, offering every student the opportunity to develop their talents.
Nastya held a quiz dedicated to Tula State University for the guests.
The first to give correct answers were Yana, an eleventh-grader who dreams of becoming a doctor, and two mothers whose sons are planning to enroll at the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High Precision Systems. All winners received Tula State University merchandise.
Rector Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko warmly welcomed the prospective students and their parents.
Tula State University, the head of the university explained, is the region's flagship university. It provides 60% of the region's higher education, focusing on the structure of the gross regional product.
Oleg Aleksandrovich emphasized that the university participates in the flagship federal projects "Advanced Engineering School" and "Professionalism," and implements special tracks offered by the Rostech State Corporation.
This year, the rector continued, higher medical education in the Tula Region will celebrate its 32-nd anniversary. Sixty percent of the region's doctors are Tula State University graduates. Many of them head medical institutions. A prime example is the Minister of Health of the Tula Region, Sergey Igorevich Mukhin, who graduated from the Tula State University Medical Institute.
Tula State University ranks fifth in the number of Russian Presidential and Government scholarship recipients among universities in Moscow and the Central Federal District. That's quite an achievement!
The rector spoke about the Tula Workers' Regiment Military Training Center, the university's development of engineering, biomedical science, humanities, management, and IT programs, and support for young student families.
"At Tula State University, you don't just get a higher education. You also meet your destiny here," he addressed the audience. "At Tula State University, you can achieve everything and move forward!"
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Vladislav Viktorovich Kotov dedicated his speech to the 2026 admissions campaign.
Tula State University, he immediately encouraged the guests, continues to lead in the number of state-funded places. 1,559 places were allocated for full-time specialist and bachelor's degree programs. Another 355 state-funded places were allocated for admission to secondary vocational education programs, 307 for master's programs, and 23 places for full-time, part-time, and distance learning programs.
Admission of high school graduates, Vladislav Viktorovich continued, will be based primarily on their Unified State Exam (USE) results. Graduates of technical schools and colleges can apply based on either their USE results or their university's internal assessments. The latter option is only valid if the secondary vocational school graduate is applying to a specialized program.
The vice-rector advised that USE subjects should be chosen based on the program or field of study they wish to pursue.
Vladislav Viktorovich discussed targeted admissions in detail. The main advantage for applicants, he said, is the availability of the Unified Federal Platform for Managing Targeted Placements, "Work in Russia". When admissions begin, all employer offers for targeted contracts with applicants will be posted on this website.
The Vice Rector told the guests about preparatory courses for students, the School of Sports Programming, and individual achievements that allow for additional points.
Following the official opening, mini-meetings were held at the university's institutes.
