Before the Start of Student Life
Two more structural divisions of Tula State University held admissions meetings today.
Mosin Technical College and Institute of International Education welcomed new students. For all the students who will be studying there, the events served as a prelude to an important event in their lives. In three days, the enrolled young men and women will become full-fledged students.
Mosin Technical College, as always, performed well.
This year, 411 students were admitted to college, 46 of whom were enrolled with tuition fee.
290 students were admitted to educational programs implemented under the federal "Professionalism" project, and 150 were enrolled under targeted training contracts.
Many students will be studying under the "Professionalism" project in targeted places.
Among the admitted students are representatives from Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Moscow, Oryol, Samara, and other regions. Tula State University's Mosin Technical College is well-known far beyond our region.
The admissions meetings at college were atmospheric and, that is crucial, pedagogically correct. The ideas and legacy of Anton Semyonovich Makarenko are revered and successfully applied to the realities of modern life.
It all began outdoors. Students and their parents gathered on a large platform in front of the college entrance. Group mentors, who will be their students' guardians throughout their years of study, came out to meet them. Each group, following their mentor, proceeded to their assigned office. There, a warm meeting took place between the teachers and students. Everyone got to know each other, chatted, and discussed organizational matters. The young men and women learned about the internal regulations, schedule, and celebration of Knowledge Day.
But the admissions meetings didn't end there. The students and their parents were invited to a tour of Tula State University College. And it certainly made an impact. In the days leading up to September 1st, the students will eagerly await their return to their now-defunct educational institution.
Twin brothers Daniil and Kirill Vasiliev from Tula got enrolled to college after ninth grade, majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology, as part of the federal "Professionalism" project. They signed a targeted training agreement with JSC Scientific and Production Association "SPLAV" named after A.N. Ganichev.
"We chose this college because it's well-known and part of Tula State University. And perhaps we'll even decide to pursue higher education in the future," the brothers said. "Besides, the college collaborates with leading companies in our region. That's also a big plus!"
Nadezhda Kharkova from Chekalin in Tula Region and Igor Burlov from Tula got enrolled into "Information Security of Automated Systems" program on a state-funded scholarship after eleventh grade.
"I have a friend from our city, his name is Valery, who studied here. He told me the teachers are great teachers and treat the students kindly. He praised this college very much!" Nadya said. "I've decided that for now I need to get a secondary vocational education. Then I'll think about upgrading my skills. It's never too late to learn! Especially since our college is a division of Tula State University."
Igor also admitted that he wants to start with secondary vocational education. And then he'll see where he wants to go from there.
"It's great that the college is part of Tula State University!" he said. "With the solid knowledge I've gained here, I'll be able to enroll in university in the future."
Institute of International Education of Tula State University is a large and very close-knit international family. Every year, it welcomes new members who not only gain knowledge and experience but also immerse themselves in Russian culture.
Today, Institute of International Education hosted a meeting with first-year students from North and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, and the CIS.
They expressed preference for such fields as IT, mechatronics and robotics, electrical power and electrical engineering, construction, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, and linguistics. And, of course, the majors "General Medicine" and "Pediatrics" are among the leaders.
"I'd really like to note that the students who passed the internal entrance examinations received high scores," emphasized Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, Dean of Institute of International Education. "And a great deal of credit for this goes to the staff of the Department of General Theoretical Subjects and Russian as a Foreign Language, where our international students took a pre-university training course."
The best confirmation of Olga Dmitrievna's words was the fact that the admissions meeting was held in Russian. The students listened attentively and understood everything.
The event's program was very comprehensive.
The international students were introduced to the history of Tula State University, the structure of Institute of International Education, aspects of migration legislation, the academic process, and the vibrant student life at innstitute.
The highlight of the day was meeting the buddies (mentors) for international students. This is a new project initiated by Institute of International Education in collaboration with the primary trade union of students and graduate students at Tula State University.
"Our activists have undergone additional training and are ready to become buddies for students from other countries," explained Elizaveta Basherova, chair of the student and graduate student trade union. "We will help them adapt and quickly integrate into extracurricular activities."
This project is undoubtedly very necessary. International students come to us from far away, separated from their homes and parents. Especially now, when they're just taking their first steps as students, they need the support, involvement, and reliable guidance of teachers and buddies.
Anaam Reham from the Republic of Yemen was admitted to Tula State University on a state-funded scholarship. She completed pre-university training corse in medical and biological sciences and received good points.
"My mother and older sister are doctors. I want to treat children, so I chose pediatrics," Anaam shared. "And I'm very happy that I was admitted to Tula State University!"
It's gratifying to know that students from different countries will be able to achieve their goals at our university!"
