From idea to thesis
On June 18, the Institute of Applied
Mathematics and Computer Science of Tula State University held the defense of final qualification papers and master's dissertations in the "Startup as a
Thesis" format.
Four bachelors in the Applied Informatics program, four bachelors and four masters in the Software
Engineering program presented their projects.
It is important to note that the students made a deep economic justification for a business idea and conducted a
problem interview with representatives of the target group with the help of the Tula State University Startup Studio for the first time. Master's student
Svetlana Khaydoshkina is studying under the scientific supervision of Yelena Anatolyevna Arefyeva, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the
Information Security Department.
— I created a platform, the so-called system, for preparing schoolchildren for the Unified State Exam and
the Basic State Exam in computer science. It adapts to a specific student using an adaptive algorithm and forms an individual track, — the graduate said. — To
maintain interest in learning, I provided for user gamification, allowing the student to receive appropriate rewards after successful completion. And in case
of loss of motivation, the system will offer the student challenges to solve problems...
Svetlana Khaydoshkina is the head of
the school of future programmers "SvetIT". She prepares children for the Unified State Exam and the Basic State Exam in computer science.
- The system has already been tested
by eleventh-graders, - the girl said. - Well, and I applied for a grant from the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations.
Elena Anatolyevna Arefyeva is also
the scientific supervisor of Master's student Alexey Minayev.
- My project is called "Analysis and improvement of the intelligent system for managing
extracurricular activities in universities based on hybrid data collection methods," the young man shared. - I developed a program that is a role
model for teachers, staff, students and the management of our university. It allows us to minimize manual labor, such as filling out documents, writing
reports, and improve the accuracy of data. Thanks to this, employees are able to create a calendar of events, and students can sign up for them and choose
the option of attending that interests them. Employees track visits using QR-codes, and then this information is transferred to the database. Then, reports
for employees and recommendations for students are generated in real time.
Of course, this day was especially exciting for the students.
Fourth-year student Yegor Karpov
even asked his mother, Yelena Mikhaylovna, to come and give him moral support. And of course, his mother came. That's what a mother is for!
- I couldn't refuse my son this, -
said Elena Mikhaylovna. - At such a crucial moment, my motherly duty is to be there for him. And to be honest, I'm more worried than my Yegor.
All the students were warmly greeted
by the head of the Tula State University Startup Studio, Yuliya Vladimirovna Verbitskaya.
- You guys are trending! - she
addressed them. - Defending your final qualification papers and master's theses in the "Startup as a Thesis" format will bring you tangible benefits.
