Tula-based doctor and Tula State University Medical Institute graduate saves newborn in the Kherson region
In September, Alexey Stekachev — an anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the Tula Regional Perinatal Center and a graduate of the TulSU Medical Institute — was working in the maternity ward of the Genichesk Central District Hospital.
Faced with a shortage of medical specialists, Alexey could not simply stand by.
"We had to work under the constant threat of drones, both day and night," the doctor recounted. "The most memorable case involved a baby born in extremely critical condition who required immediate resuscitation. Despite our limited resources, we managed to stabilize the infant; within 24 hours, the baby began breathing independently, and the seizures were brought under control. On the third day, the child was evacuated to a safe location. The little patient is now alive and safe."
We are proud of our medical graduates.
