"More than a Just a Tour"

Last Sunday, students of Institute of International Education of Tula State University took part in the filming of the video "Tula is Our Home."

Indeed, their knowledge of our region is deep enough.

In May 2023, international students of Tula State University, representing nearly all continents of our globe, took part in the annual event "Tourist Routes "More than a Just a Tour", which was organized by the Ministry of Youth Policy of Tula Region with the support of the State Institution of the Tula Region "Tula Regional Youth Center".

Throughout May, our international students enthusiasticallyimmersed themselves into the rich culture and history Tula region.

They visited the palace-museum - the Bobrinsky family estate in Bogoroditsk. This is a large palace complex on the territories that belonged to Empress Catherine II, which  she gave as a gift to her illegitimate son A.G. Bobrinsky in 1765. The participants of the tour learned all the most interesting things about the country residence of Empress Catherine the Great, about palace everyday life and celebrations, and then took a walk through the old park. During this immersive tour, this object of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation of federal significance impressed everybody a lot.
International students of Tula State University also visited a truly legendary landmark of Tula region - the State Museum-Reserve "Kulikovo Field", where they had the honor to touch a distant, but decisive event in the history of the Russian state. An indescribable delight - with their own eyes, international students saw the place where one of the most famous and fateful battles for Rus' took place - the First Military Field of Russia. The foreigners also visited the memorial on the Red Hill, the monument-column to Dmitry Donskoy, the Museum of the Battle of Kulikovo and other sights and museums of the Kulikovo field.
Before the International Museum Day, international students of Tula State University pre-university training course visited the State Memorial Historical, Artistic and Natural Museum-Reserve of Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov. Surrounded by picturesque nature in the vicinity of the Oka River, the artist Polenov created an amazing and unique oasis of harmony in which different styles, eras and works coexist peacefully. In the museum-reserve, everything is subordinated to the main principle of Vasily Dmitrievich - art should give happiness and joy.

The fascinating journey ended in the pearl of Tula Region - the museum-estate of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. Foreigners learned the history of the estate, plunged into the process of creating the novel "War and Peace", and also got acquainted not only with the creative heritage, but also with the life of the writer, the traditions of his family.

Director of Institute of International Education Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova: “Culture is exactly the bridge that leads to understanding between peoples. This is the  "people's diplomacy" and "soft power" in action. In May 2023, thanks to the event "Tourist Routes" More than a Just a Tour", completely different cultural codes were ignited and strengthened, united in a common thematic field - a field of mutual understanding and mutual respect for the great Tula Region."
