Tula State University is waiting for applicants from Tanzania and Zanzibar

From November 23 to 26, the Russian House in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania, hosted an educational exhibition-presentation “Russian Education for Africa”.

Representatives of the following Russian universities spoke to the future students: Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI", St. Petersburg Mining University, Southern Federal University and Tula State University.

The exhibition-presentation was solemnly opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the United Republic of Tanzania Andrey Levonovich Avetisyan, congratulating the Tanzanian applicants for the fact that "they have made the right choice of the country for getting higher education." In total, the event was attended by 350 guests - young people from Tanzania, who are dreaming of getting education in Russia, and their parents.

Tula State University was represented by Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, director of Institute of International Education. She arrived at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Dar es Salaam not only to participate in the exhibition, but also to speak to the potential applicants, to make a presentation of the educational opportunities at Tula State University.
Booklets and leaflets about the university were prepared for the exhibition in English and Swahili. With the support of the Student Media Center, Tanzanian students of our university, Ramadani Abdulkarim Thomas, Hamudu Moses Seif and Dattani Elizabeth Peter, took part in creating a promo video about our university in Swahili. The guys treated this task with great responsibility, trying to convey to faraway Tanzania not only information about the history and educational programs of Tula State University, but also their impressions of the university and being taught in it, their joy from the snow they saw in Russia for the first time.
Tanzanian applicants learned that in 2022 it will be 60 years since the beginning of the training of highly qualified personnel for foreign countries at Tula State University, that citizens of 70 countries of the world study at our university, that everyone can find a suitable educational program for themselves at our university, as well as about bright, atmospheric, unforgettable multicultural festivals, forums, meetups held here - about all the diversity that Institute of International Education of Tula State University is famous for.

Applicants from Tanzania and Zanzibar were really able to look at our university through the eyes of their compatriots - Tanzanian students, and also noted with surprise that they did not know how culturally and historically rich the city of Tula is - the fact that it is officially "the third museum capital of Russia" after Moscow and St. Petersburg also worked in favor of choosing Tula State University.

Before the all-Russian admission campaign 2023/2024 on the website "Education in the Russian Federation for Foreign Citizens", the Director of Institute of International Education held consultations with Tanzanian applicants and their parents on the specifics of the procedure for selecting talented Tanzanian youth to study in Russian educational organizations within the scholarship established by the Government of the Russian Federation for 2024/2024 academic year.

On November 26, representatives of Russian universities visited the Dar es Salam Institute of Technology, where they held a presentation of universities and their educational programs for its students who showed interest in continuing their education at Russian universities in technical and engineering areas at Master's programs.

During the visit, it was also possible to discuss a draft memorandum of cooperation with representatives of the Dar es Salam Institute of Technology in terms of organizing the work of summer schools in the Russian language for students of the institute and their participation in different conferences on at Tula State University.

Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova noted: “This is the third visit of Tula State University representatives to the Russian House in Dar es Salaam and the 4th participation in this educational exhibition-presentation. The result of systematic participation was an increase in the number of citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania in the general student population of our univerity, which serves to achieve the goals of the Priority 2030 program. In the next academic year, we expect that 12 more Tanzanian applicants will choose Tula State University. I would like to express special gratitude to Maria Vladimirovna Pateeva, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Tanzania, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office, for her work to promote and strengthen the ideas of good neighborliness between Russia and friendly Tanzania, as well as for showing extraordinary sensitivity with the support of the citizens of Tanzania as at the stage of organizing educational exhibitions for them with participation of Russian universities and the selection of candidates from Tanzania to study at Russian universities within the scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation, and at the stage of their education at Tula State University."
