Around the International Table

On December 15, at Tula State University there was a tradititonal meeting of Rector Oleg Alexandrovich Kravchenko and Vice-Rector for International and Project Activities Olesya Evgenievna Labadze with international students being trained at university.

For the first time, such a tea party with the vice-rector of Tula State University took place in 2018. The students liked the event so much that it was decided to gather around the international table every year. In this way this good tradition was born.

Welcoming the participants, Olesya Evgenievna noted that each of those who were present at the meeting achieved certain successes in 2022, and today's meeting is, in fact, an open dialogue during which it is possible to discuss both creative plans and some plans of further interaction.

Olesya Evgenievna emphasized that international students studying in Russia  face certain difficulties. And this is natural, since the students are integrated into the culture of another country. At the same time, it is especially pleasant to note, she continued, that foreigners not only successfully overcome these difficulties, but also gain useful experience from this, because, communicating with representatives of different nations, they expand their intellectual and cultural horizons, learn the traditions of other peoples, make new friends. And all this becomes "fertile ground" for the emergence of interesting ideas and bright solutions.

Director of  Institute of International Education Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova noted with satisfaction that the geography of participants of this event is constantly expanding. This year a student from Myanmar joined the traditional meeting.

According to the already established tradition, international students watched a video report on different events of 2022,  they took part in.

Hamoka Diyar Khalid Darvish, a graduate of  Tula State University from Iraq, joined the students via videoconference.

In 2016, he graduated from "General Medicine" program, and in 2018 - from Medical Resudency Program in Urology. Currently, he combines medical activities with diplomatic work - he works in the Bureau of Education and Culture of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Russian Federation.

Hamoka Diyar Khalid Darwish spoke of his Alma Mater with great affection. He advised the international students that they shoud listen carefully to their teachers who put their whole soul into them.

- You need to study well in order to make your dream come true in the future! - he said.

Tula State University graduate spoke about how difficult it was for him to learn Russian and how hard it was for him to get used to the Russian winter. But even a severe frost, he admitted, could not be compared with the feelings and impressions that his studies in Tula gave him. Tula gingerbread and samovar, L.N. Tolstoy's "Yasnaya Polyana" - all this will remain in his heart forever.

Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, via  Hamoka Diyar Khalid Darwish, invited the representatives of the Embassy of Iraq in the Russian Federation to take part in the next  Forum-Festival “We Welcome All the Flags!”.

Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko admitted that he was very glad to see the international students of Tula State University gathering around the table.

The students, in their turn, expressed their gratitude to the administration of the university for having the opportunity not only to get  higher education in one of the leading universities in Russia, but also to contribute to its successful development. And all the teachers of Tula State University, as foreigners emphasized, want only one thing - to transfer their knowledge to students and to make good specialists out of them.

“We strive to be sensitive to the culture of different nations,”  Oleg Alexandrovich Kravchenko said. - But you, guys, also need to try to go deeper into the the traditions of Russia. Together with the Institute of International Education, we are ready to acquaint you with the historical aspects of our state.

The international students students expressed their wishes to the rector. They, in particular, would like to have another creative space for them to use it for studying and communication purposes, as well as the active involvement of foreigners in "Digital Department" project of additional professional education.

Oleg Alexandrovich said that next year, within the framework of this project, it is planned to open a new program -  "System Administration".

A solemn ceremony of awarding the most active international students with certificates was held.

Daniel Omara pleased everyone with his talent and creativity -  he sang a Christmas song.

At the end of the meeting, on a special map "World without Borders" the international students marked their countries. This touching ritual for the second time becomes a bright touch of this event.
