Russia Day - what is the meaning of the holiday

On the eve of the celebration of the Day of Russia, a patriotic film lecture was held at the Institute of Law and Management.

The event was opened by Deputy Director of the Institute of Law and Management Sergey Nikolayevich Kovalev: “Film lectures at Tula State University have been held since 2017. We invited students from different institutions to today's meeting to celebrate the upcoming holiday - Russia Day. On June 12, 1990, the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the RSFSR was adopted. Since 1992, the holiday has become a state holiday and since 2002 has been called the Day of Russia.

Associate Professor of the Department of History of State and Law Alexander Alexandrovich Dranishnikov explained to the children the meaning of the holiday: “This holiday is about freedom, peace and harmony between citizens on the basis of justice and law. This is a day of pride and respect for Russia, and therefore a day of patriotism. Love for the Motherland unites all Russians and makes you think, pay special attention to what every citizen cherishes.”

A documentary film directed by Danil Motin "A Brief History of Russian Culture" was filmed as part of the "Knowledge. Cinema" project. The film tells the audience about how the authenticity of Russian culture was formed, to what extent it absorbed the traditions of different cultures and how it added its new names to the world heritage.

Film lectures are regularly held at our institute. I have already been to three film screenings. Here important topics are raised, significant events in the history of Russia and great people are revealed. Today's topic is very relevant. Young people need to know their history. My friends and I have a tradition: on Russia Day we always go to a concert, participate in competitions, buy souvenirs, - shared a student of the Institute of Law and Management Arina Gorlatykh.

– The purpose of the Day of Russia is to pay tribute to the ancestors, to remember the stages of the formation of the state. Also, this holiday instills in citizens respect for their own country and its culture,” Yaroslav Shimorov, a student at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, explained the significance of the date.
