Sports festival of Vietnamese students
Last weekend, a sports festival was held at the Burevestnik stadium of Tula State University - a football tournament among citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam living in Tula and the Tula region.
It was timed to coincide with Vietnam's most important national holiday - Independence Day, which has been celebrated annually on September 2 since 1945, when the country's leader Ho Chi Minh proclaimed its independence and promulgated the Declaration of Independence.
Vietnamese students from Tula State University and Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy took part in Saturday's football tournament, as well as representatives of the Vietnamese Community of Tula, an organization that provides assistance to Vietnamese compatriots in adapting to Russian culture, becoming familiar with Russian legislation and overcoming the language barrier.
Despite the rain, the sports festival went well! And, of course, friendship won!
The Vietnamese community is one of the largest at Tula State University; more than 50 representatives of this Asian country study at the university,” noted Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, director of the Institute of International Education. — The Vietnamese are distinguished by their diligence in their studies, and traditionally there are excellent students among them. They value Russian education very much and know exactly why they came to our country. However, the life of Vietnamese students within the walls of Tula State University is not limited only to academic studies. And today’s sports festival, which, in my opinion, combines two important occasions at once - Vietnamese Independence Day and Knowledge Day in Russia - is a clear confirmation of this.
