Tula State University and Indonesia: Developing Cooperation

On September 10-17, Tula State University is hosting a Summer School in the Russian Language, History and Culture for a foreign delegation from Tula State University’s partner - Tidar University (Magelang, Republic of Indonesia).

The main goal of the event is to strengthen ties between universities in the field of education, science and culture, promoting the Russian language and culture outside the Russian Federation.

The Indonesian delegation included lecturers Kenyo Charisma Kurniasari (discipline “Tourism”), Dwi Novianto (discipline “Electrical Power and Electrical Engineering”) and Mukh Azril (discipline “Aquatic Bio-Resources and Aquaculture”).

On September 11, the guests met with Vice-Rector for International Affairs and project Management Olesya Evgenievna Labadze, Head of the Research and Development Department Olga Anatolyevna Fomicheva and Head of the Project Office Tatyana Viktorovna Kozlova.

On behalf of the huge team of Tula State University, Olesya Evgenievna expressed her deep respect to her Indonesian friends.

As the Vice-Rector emphasized, for 73 years now, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, Russia has been a good friend of the Republic of Indonesia. Active cooperation is carried out in the fields of education, science, culture, as well as between the regions of the two countries.

TheVice-Rector recalled the words of the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Russian Federation Jose Antonio Morato Tavares during the celebration of Indonesia-Russia Friendship Day in honor of the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, who said that Indonesia will continue to work with the Russian Federation as a strategic partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, develop trade and cultural relations. And from this point of view, the training of highly qualified personnel for both countries is of particular relevance.

For more than twenty years, Tula State University has been training Indonesian citizens in a variety of educational programs.

As Olesya Evgenievna said, currently, at Tula State University, one student from Indonesia is receiving an education. The girl is studying in the direction of “Architecture”. This September, another Indonesian citizen will arrive at our university. First, he will undergo a pre-university training program in the Russian language, and then will study in the direction of “Commercial Business”.

Tula State University is interested in increasing the number of Indonesian citizens. The university is ready to create all the necessary conditions for them both for studying and living, and for their development,” the Vice-Rector said. — In addition, Tula State University is aimed at developing scientific and educational cooperation and academic mobility between our universities.

The meeting participants discussed issues related to further interaction between the parties.

Tula State University has prepared a rich program for Indonesian guests. It includes classes in the Russian language, history and culture, visits to university laboratories, meetings with representatives of the university administration and various departments, and excursions.

During classes on the Russian language and Russian culture, our Indonesian colleagues will learn a lot of new and interesting things. They will not only learn the basics of a great and powerful language and be imbued with the original beauty of Russian culture, but will also gain a lot of useful information about the legendary Tula region.

The classes will be conducted by Maya Mikhailovna Katkova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, senior teacher of the Department of General Theoretical Subjects and Russian as a Foreign Language.
