From October 11 to October 20, the 3rd World Football Championship among foreign students was held at the Burevestnik stadium of Tula State University. The sporting event was supported by a grant won by the university in 2023 in the form of subsidies to educational organizations of higher education for the implementation of events held as part of the Review Competition for the best organization of physical culture and sports work among educational organizations of higher education. Eight national teams from Arab and African countries, Russia, Central Asia and Vietnam took part in the World Championship. This year, international football brought together players from Tula State University, Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy and Novomoskovsk Institute of the Russian Chemical-Technological University named after. DI. Mendeleev.

At the opening ceremony of the competition, the footballers were warmly congratulated by the Minister of Sports of the Tula Region, Dmitry Nikolaevich Yakovlev. He noted with satisfaction that the Russian Federation is now hosting its own World Cup. And the fact that it has already reached the regional level indicates that sport in general and football in particular unite people.

Deputy General Director of the Tula club "Arsenal" for the development of youth football, Yuri Vladimirovich Cherevsky, emphasized that this World Cup has become a good tradition and is loved by young people from different countries.

In his speech, the guest did not ignore the university’s excellent sports facilities, which make it possible to hold competitions of such a scale. Tula State University Vice-Rector for Educational Work Eduard Sergeevich Temnov wished bright emotions, an exciting game and good sporting success to all football players. In accordance with football ritual, Dmitry Nikolaevich Yakovlev scored the first kick. The start was given. The World Championship was held using a mixed system. The teams were divided into two groups. First they played a round robin against each other. Well, then there were the playoffs with the semi-finals, the match for third place and the final game.

All matches were officiated by qualified referees from the Tula region.

Based on the results of the competition, places were distributed as follows:

1st place – Guests from the future (Tajikistan - 2);

2nd place – Somonien (Tajikistan - 1);

3rd place – Pharaohs (Egypt).

The best goalkeeper was Eldix Mohammed Pharaohs (Egypt), the best scorer was Tagoymurodov Ulugbek Somonien (Tajikistan - 1), the best player at the end of the championship was Goibov Gairatjon Guests from the Future (Tajikistan - 2). “Every year our World Championship is held in intense sports competition, and each time there are more and more people who want to take part in it,” commented Sergei Igorevich Suslov, candidate of pedagogical sciences, director of the Tula State University sports club. — Such competitions always bring a lot of positive emotions and unforgettable impressions. It is gratifying that this year our Championship has sparkled with new colors. Indeed, in terms of its composition, it is one of the few international competitions in the country.

A fourth-year student majoring in General Medicine at the Institute of International Education, Shad Hussein, is from the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The guy said that he had played football since childhood and even played this sport professionally. So it’s quite difficult to surprise him with such competitions. However, the World Championship, which is held at Tula State University, not only struck him with the intensity of his sports passions, but also, as the future physician himself put it, strengthened his love for football.

— The championship impressed me with its high level of organization. And this extraordinary energy with which we were all charged during the competition will forever remain in me,” admitted Shad Hussain. — I think that we must constantly lead a healthy lifestyle. And what could be better than training in a friendly team whose hearts are filled with the will to win!

A third-year student majoring in General Medicine at the Institute of International Education, Mheimid Hashem, came to study with us from Syria.

He also played football in his homeland, so the young man has sports experience. At the World Championships in Tula State University he was a member of the Syrian team “Eagles of Kasiun”.

— Thanks to participation in competitions, I met and talked with guys from different countries. I was very touched by the friendly atmosphere that reigned during all (ed.) matches,” said Mhemid Hashem. — I consciously adhere to a healthy lifestyle. I visit the gym and swimming pool of Tula State University. Thanks to all the organizers and participants of the World Championship! This event brought us together!

Munis Muzafarzoda from Tajikistan is a third-year student majoring in General Medicine at the Institute of International Education.

He shared that he had a love for football since childhood. In the evenings we played it with the guys until late. Until the adults took the ball away. And so they would drive and drive... — I liked the World Championship! All the matches are interesting, although sometimes tough. As the teams raced to win, emotions sometimes got the better of them. Fortunately, each game ended with the players shaking hands as a show of friendship, Muniz said. — I am with both hands for a healthy lifestyle! And how could it be otherwise! This is the key to success and well-being of the family, and also a good example to follow. As you know, a person with willpower adheres to a healthy lifestyle and promotes sports.

Taking this opportunity, the student, on behalf of the entire Tajik team No. 1 “Somoniyon”, thanked the organizers and everyone involved in the World Championship for the excellent opportunity to compete.

“This year the FIFA World Cup has taken a new height - from an intra-university event it has turned into an event of a regional scale,” commented Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, candidate of pedagogical sciences, director of the Institute of International Education. “It’s nice, of course, that the teams drew appropriate conclusions from the competitions of previous years and further honed their skills. Well, as a result, they pleased the fans with their professionalism, coherence and spectacular play.

The award ceremony for the winners and runners-up will take place at the Forum-festival “All flags are visiting us.”
