Tula State University and Uzbekistan: Cooperation is Growing Stronger

On March 7, as part of their visit to Tula Region, Tula State University was visited by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation - Advisor Alisher Garibzhonovich Bekniyazov, First Secretary Fatkhulla Fayzullaevich Abdurakhmanov and Head of the Representative Office of the External Labor Migration Agency Oybek Odiljon Ugli Odilov.

The meeting was also attended by specialists and students from Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy.

The official part of the event was opened by Anton Valerievich Pankratov, Deputy Chairman of Tula Region Committee on Science and Innovation.

He greeted the Uzbek guests on behalf of the Governor of Tula Region Alexey Gennadievich Dyumin.

The Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the speaker emphasized, are linked by reliable, time-tested partnerships. As for our region, over the past three years cooperation with Uzbekistan has expanded significantly. Tula enterprises are interested in interacting with Uzbek colleagues.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Project Management Olesya Evgenievna Labadze told the guests about Tula State University.

Tula State University, she said, is the largest university in Central Russia and the leading scientific and educational center in Tula Region.

The university teaches 49 bachelor's degree programs, 45 master's programs, 14 specialty programs, 53 doctoral programs, 24 med-residency programs and 15 secondary vocational education programs.

Tula State University is a scientific center in the field of engineering, biotechnology, ecology and composite materials.

The Republic of Uzbekistan ranks third in the top 10 countries in terms of full-time international students and first in the top 10 countries in terms of international part-time students.

The most popular among Uzbek students are such programs as “General Medicine”, “Customs”, “Economics”, “Electric Power Engineering” and “Mining”.

As Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, head of Institute of International Education said,  205 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are getting higher education at Tula State University, among them 53 students are studying full-time.

Uzbek students are actively involved in university life. Initiative and creative, they always strive to prove themselves with dignity.

Olga Dmitrievna gave several examples. There was genuine pride in her voice for her students. During her speech, Olga Dmitrievna also voiced the cooperation proposals of Tula State University.

For applicants from the Republic of Uzbekistan, she emphasized, this is a wide range of educational programs and pre-university training programs in Russian as a foreign language, both in full-time and online formats.

For university students in the Republic of Uzbekistan, our university offers Summer and Winter schools in various areas in Russian and/or English, the International Summer School of Russian language, history and culture, student exchange programs in the “International Semester” format in a wide range of specialties, as well as participation in various events.

For universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, short-term scientific internships in university laboratories in Russian, conducting joint research, participation in scientific and practical conferences at Tula State University, joint research in the field of ecology and biotechnology, engineering areas may be of interest.

Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Alisher Garibzhonovich Bekniyazov, in turn, noted that it is a great honor for representatives of the Uzbek side to be in a region that makes a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability of their country.
Relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan are developing dynamically, and the Uzbek leadership is interested in students studying in Russia and successfully applying the acquired knowledge in their homeland.
Representatives of the Embassy, emphasized Alisher Garibzhonovich, feel the kindness and care that Russians show to Uzbek students.
Currently, more than 53 thousand citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are studying in the Russian Federation, and their number is growing every year. There are 14 branches of leading Russian universities in Uzbekistan, and this fact speaks volumes.
First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation Fatkhulla Fayzullaevich Abdurakhmanov noted the importance of exchanging teachers and organizing advanced training courses for Uzbek scientists in Russian universities.
The parties discussed issues of further interaction.
A gift exchange ceremony took place.
Olesya Evgenievna Labadze presented Alisher Garibzhonovich Bekniyazov with a letter of gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Zakirovich Asadov for the work he is doing to promote and strengthen the ideas of good neighborliness between countries.
After the official part, representatives of the Embassy met and talked with Uzbek students studying at Tula State University and Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy.
