TulSU and HANOI UNIVERSITY

On April 15-th, a delegation from Hanoi University headed by Vice President Luong Ngoc Minh visited Tula State University.

Vietnamese colleagues met and communicated with the Rector of the TulSU Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko, Vice Rector for International and Project Activities Olesya Yevgenyevna Labadze, Vice Rector for Scientific Work Mikhail Sergeyevich Vorotilin, representatives of the Institute of International Education and International Relations Office.
Welcoming the guests, Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko noted that international humanitarian cooperation is one of the most important directions in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the states. Socialist Republic of Vietnam has been one of the key partners of our country in the Asian-Pacific region for more than 70 years. Good-neighbourly relaruins between Russia and Vietnam are successfully developing in various areas.
It is gratifying that the interest in educational cooperation is mutual, said the head of the university. TulSU has been training Vietnamese students for more than 30 years. Currently 54 citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are studying at the University under the programs of pre-university training, bachelor
s, specialist and master
s degrees, postgraduate studies and residency. They study not only Russian language, but also Russian culture and actively take part in different Olympiads and contests.
Oleg Aleksandrovich emphasized that Tula State University is interested in interaction with Vietnamese friends and in realization of joint projects.
Rector presented the guests with a letter of gratitude for the management of Hanoi University and on behalf of Tula State University expressed deep gratitude for the development of good-neighborly relations between two countries, establishment of favorable climate for mutually beneficial cooperation in humanitarian spheres, promotion of Russian language and reinforcement of its positions in Asia- Pacific region.
Mr Luong Ngoc Minh, in his turn, conveyed warm greetings from the Rector of the Hanoi University of Science and Technologies to his Tula colleagues and recounted the history of HANU, its specialties and its partnership with foreign higher education institutions, including Russian ones.
Olesya Yevgenyevna Labadze took the floor and told guests that TulSU is located in the armory capital of Russia, that Tula – is the hero-city and the third museum capital of the country. The city`s brands and sights are known far beyond the borders of Russian Federation.
She also emphasized that the proximity to Moscow makes TulSU attractive to the young people. A wide range of educational programs, namely 49 bachelor
s programs, 45 master
s programs, 14 specialist`s programs, 53 postgraduate programs, 24 medical residency programs and 15 secondary vocational education programs also contribute to the positive image of the institution.
The main areas of research activities at TulSU include engineering and mining, biotechnologies, ecology and composite materials.
More than 20 thousand students study at the university, including 1300 citizens from more than 70 countries of the world. Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are at the top of the list.
Olesya Yevgenyevna emphasised that Vietnamese students are responsible and talented. They are involved in the life of the university and take the most active part in events that are significant for our university, such as Forum "Engineers of the Future", International History School, International Forum-Festival "All Flags Come to Visit Us!", English Summer School "Dive into Science!", English-Russian Summer School "Engineer is an International Profession!", Festival of Creativity and Culture "National Quarter".
The Vice Rector said that for applicants from Vietnam Tula State University is ready to offer a worthy list of educational programs and pre-university training programs in Russian as a foreign language in both full-time and distance formats. The offerings for students include Summer and Winter Schools in various areas in Russian and/or English, International Summer School of Russian language, history and culture, student exchange programs in the format of "International Semester", various cultural and educational activities, and for students - Summer and Winter Schools in various fields in Russian and/or English, International Summer School of Russian language, history and culture, student exchange programs in the format of "International Semester", various cultural and educational events, and for the university in Vietnam - short-term scientific internships in university laboratories in Russian and English, joint research, participation in scientific and practical conferences on the basis of TulSU.
Vietnamese colleagues said they were interested in exchanges of students and teachers, as well as in scientific internships for the latter.
Oleg Aleksandrovich Kravchenko made a proposal to consider the possibility of enrolling Vietnamese students who speak Russian in master's programs, as well as in postgraduate IT courses.
The parties discussed issues related to parity training of Vietnamese students in Russian language by specialists of Tula State University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, including in hybrid format, as well as prospects for joint research activities in such areas as economics, linguistics, information technology and pedagogy. 
The Rector of TulSU spoke about the need to identify those specialties and areas of training that could become the subject of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two educational organizations, to develop an algorithm of interaction between the two institutions of higher education and to draw up a roadmap.
The Vietnamese friends invited Oleg Aleksandrovich and representatives of the scientific community of our university to visit them.
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged gifts and took pictures.
