TulSU builds up its competence in genetics

A molecular biology research laboratory was set up at Tula State University as part of the “Priority-2030” programme. The research centre ‘BioChemTech’ of TulSU has completed commissioning procedures of new modern high-tech equipment. In order to implement projects in the field of molecular biology and genetics as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership programme DNA equipment for electrophoresis of nucleic acids and proteins, a gel documentation system, a cell disintegrator, laminar and PCR boxes, low-temperature freezers, a water treatment and extra pure water production system were purchased.
- Inclusion of the new laboratory in the ‘BioChemTechCentre’ of TulSU will significantly expand the directions of research in the field of molecular biology, biotechnology and genetics at the modern level. It will also allow to improve the professional competence of the staff of youth laboratories and to obtain new knowledge in the field of fundamental and applied science, - said the head of the laboratory of environmental and medical biotechnology, candidate of chemical sciences Sergey Valeryevich Alfyorov.
The Laboratory of Molecular Biology will operate as part of the TulSU Shared-Use Centre, and all interested researchers will have access to the equipment.
