We are proud of our graduate!

On the Day of Russia, in the St. George's Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, as per tradition, presented the Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation gold medals and the Russian Federation State Prizes in science and technology, literature and art, and for outstanding achievements in human rights and charitable activities.

Among those awarded was renowned engineering designer Pyotr Ivanovich Serdyukov, head of the small arms department at the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH JSC). He was awarded the title Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation.

“We are doing everything necessary for our country, arming our army”, Pyotr Ivanovich assured the head of state in his response.

This is a special reason to be proud for all of us. Tula State University gave this talented man his start in a long and vibrant professional life.

Pyotr Ivanovich Serdyukov was born on December 8, 1945. In 1963, he entered what was then the Tula Polytechnic Institute.

In 1969, he graduated from Tula Polytechnic Institute and was assigned to work at TsNIITochMash JSC. It is worth noting that this research institute was once headed by Konstantin Nikolayevich Rudnev, a Soviet statesman and prominent organizer of the Soviet cosmonautics, rocket, space, and defense industries. He was one of the first graduates of the Tula Mechanical Institute, graduating with honors.

Pyotr Ivanovich Serdyukov's career has been linked to the company for fifty-seven years.

He is well known not only in our country but also far beyond its borders as an outstanding engineering designer who created unique small arms and special equipment adopted by the Soviet and Russian armies and domestic intelligence agencies.

Pyotr Ivanovich is the developer of such products as the “Vystrel” pistol, which is used for the silent mines and explosive devices attach underwater, the “Vasser” system, and several models of self-loading pistols.

Pyotr Ivanovich Serdyukov is best known for the 9mm “Vintorez” special sniper rifle and the “Val” special assault rifle, developed under his supervision. These unique and effective weapons, designed for silent and flameless fire at ranges of up to 400 meters, enable special forces to operate successfully behind enemy lines, providing them with maximum stealth and concealment when engaging the enemy.

The “Vintorez” is based on Serdyukov's design solutions. This silent sniper system is rightfully considered the best and has no analogues in the world.

Pyotr Ivanovich is the author and co-author of 29 patents for inventions and utility models.

He participated in the research and development projects “Ratnik”, “Udar”, and others.

Serdyukov became a respected mentor for several generations of specialists. His competence, responsibility, and dedication to his chosen field serve as an example to his colleagues.

Pyotr Ivanovich is a laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation.

The engineering designer was awarded the Order of Friendship and the Certificate of Honor of the Russian Conventional Arms Agency.

He was awarded the honorary titles of “Best Inventor of the Russian Ministry of Defense Industry” and “Honored Worker of TsNIITochMash”.
