When Surgeons Have a Competition
Students of Medical Institute of Tula State University took part in a district stage of the Moscow (All-Russian) Student Olympiad in Surgery named after Academician M.I. Perelman.
At the Olympiad, teams from leading medical universities had the opportunity to demonstrate their surgical skills in the accreditation and simulation center equipped according to the latest global trends and in the training operating room WetLab, which is close to the real conditions of the operating unit. They competed in performing theoretical and practical tasks, conducting operational cases of various levels of complexity. The students talked to prominent scientists and practicing surgeons.
The program of the Olimpiad included competitions in vascular, thoracic, abdominal, plastic and microvascular surgery, as well as in urology, coloproctology, endovideosurgery, neurosurgery, eye microsurgery, operative gynecology, resuscitation and surgical dentistry.
“We have prepared well,” sixth-year student Igor Chulnikov said. “The most important thing is that all members of our team showed their best results in comparison with the results in preparation, despite the unfamiliar atmosphere and competitive stress. This is a great progress! We watched more experienced colleagues doing manipulations, we listened to the comments of the jury, which means that next year Tula State University team will perform even more professionally.
