The Arrival of Spring and Renewal

On March 18, the traditional celebration of the arrival of spring and renewal "Navruz" was held at the Association of Cultural Development Centers in Tula. This celebration marks the start of a series of intercultural events of the Interregional Festival of National Cultures “Country in Miniature”, which will be held in Tula for the 17th time this year.

The word "Navruz" ("Novruz", "Navruz", "Nooruz", "Nevruz", "Nauryz") in translation into Russian means "new day", and its spelling and pronunciation may vary depending on the country in which this festival is celebrated.

"Navruz" comes on the day of the spring equinox and is celebrated as the beginning of the New Year by more than 300 million people around the world.

And for more than 3 thousand years this holiday has been known and invariably loved in the Balkans, in some countries of the Middle East, in the Caucasus, in Central Asia, in the Black Sea basin and in other regions.

The celebration of "Navruz" means the proclamation of life in harmony with nature, the realization of the inextricable link between creative work and natural renewal cycles, and a caring and respectful attitude towards the natural sources of life.

On March 18, in the Association of Centers for the Development of Culture, "Navruz" united a multinational and friendly family of peoples living in the Tula Region. Representatives of different nationalities, diasporas and public associations of national cultures gathered in the festive hall. As well as representatives of international student communities of Tula State University and Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy.
This year, the format of  Navruz celebration was changed. Five teams, among which there was the team of the Tajik community of Tula State University, tookpart in various competitions.

In the first competition "Wisdom and Unity", the head of the Tajik community of Tula State University Umedjon Nasredinov greeted all those present on the holiday of spring and renewal.

The second competition "Harmony" included the presentation of national dishes, which the teams specially cooked with love for the spring holiday.

Pevistamo Abdulvobova presented very emotionally the traditional Tajik dishes that are usually cooked on Navruz - kurutob, plov, chak-chak, brushwood and sweet katlama, and she also shared the culinary secrets.

Pevistamo also spoke about the traditions of celebrating Navruz in Tajikistan in "Tradition and Development" competition, demonstrating a bright, colorful presentation to the jury and describing each of these traditions in detail.

The latest competition "Cohesion and Friendship" is an incredible battle of folk dances. And, of course, the team of the Tajik community of Tula State University caused a storm of enthusiasm and applause from the audience - by the way, it was the audience who decided who would win this competition.

And, as always, friendship won. The Tajik community of Tula State University and the head of the community Umedjon Nasredinov were awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the Tula Region, which were presented by the Minister of Culture Tatyana Vyacheslavovna Rybkina.

– Today, on March 18, the celebration of “Navruz” was held at the Association of Centers for the Development of Culture. The event was great. There were many representatives of different nationalities who gathered under the sign of the Navruz holiday that unites us. We all shared the history and traditions of this holiday, each team showed master classes on making their national dish. I think all the guests, like me, highly appreciated the prepared performances and dishes that decorated today's holiday, -  Azamkhon Muminov, a student of Tula State University from Tajikistan, commented.

– It was a pleasure to celebrate this multinational holiday in such a pleasant atmosphere. I learned a lot about how Navruz is celebrated in different countries, about their cuisine, dances and customs. I thank everyone who took part and made this day bright, colorful and memorable! - a student of Tula State University from Turkmenistan Selbi Charyeva, added.
