Medicine and technology for the benefit of human health
On March 31, Tula State University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Medical Devices and Technologies - 2026" in a hybrid format.
It brought together representatives of the medical and scientific engineering communities, specialists in medical technology, postgraduate students, students and schoolchildren.
This year, the geography of the conference participants has broken all previous records. More than three hundred co-authors from 15 cities of Russia and 10 countries of the world submitted more than one hundred articles.
Post-graduate student of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Medical Microbiology and Pathological Anatomy at the Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Federal Scientific Clinical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (Moscow) Ksenia Olegovna Nechai at TulSU for the second time.
— This is a huge practical experience, which, in my opinion, is unique itself. A strong scientific school has developed at the Medical Institute of Tula State University. It is very important for me to share my ideas with colleagues and gain new knowledge, said the guest. — Under the scientific supervision of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergei Vyacheslavovich Khabarov, I prepared the report "Vitamin D deficiency as a risk factor for gestational diabetes mellitus: results of a clinical trial." It was based on the topic of my PhD thesis.
Alexey Vyacheslavovich Prokhortsov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Acting Director of the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High-Precision Systems, Head of the Department of Devices and Biotechnical Systems, Adviser to the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Tula Regional Branch of the League of Higher School Teachers, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
The conference, he emphasized, is being held for the thirteenth time, but though it used to be organized every two years, it has recently been held annually. This indicates the growing popularity of the scientific event and the relevance of the issues discussed.
Alexey Vyacheslavovich reported that the collection of articles based on the conference materials is available in the scientific electronic library eLibrary.RU and indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
Victoria Sergeyevna Sobolenkova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Acting Head of the Department of Polyclinic Medicine, doctor of Sports Medicine at the Tula Regional Center for Medical Prevention and Rehabilitation named after Ya.S. Stechkin, said that traditionally the conference was organized by the Department of Devices and Biotechnical Systems of the V.P. Gryazev IVTS and Department of Polyclinic Medicine of the Medical Institute, and this year the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology joined them. This symbiosis of interdisciplinary knowledge facilitates the search for new solutions.
It is symbolic that the first participation of his team in this conference was in the jubilee year, said Valery Georgiyevich Volkov, MD, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Forty years ago, the first girl conceived through in vitro fertilization was born in the Soviet Union. Our countryman, obstetrician—gynecologist, embryologist and reproductologist Valentin Alekseevich Lukin, played a major role in this work. He was born in the village of Kurkino in the Tula region and was the sixth child in the family.
The scientist was at the origin of the creation of the in vitro fertilization program in the USSR.
Professor Volkov noted the importance of the conference for the development of new technologies and new knowledge and wished all participants good work.
Olga Dmitriyevna Gladkova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Director of the Institute of International Education, emphasised that the training of medical personnel for foreign countries in Russian universities is necessary for cooperation in the international arena and foreign economic activity of our country. The degree of university involvement in this process is an important rating indicator of the university's level in the global educational space.
440 students from 8 countries of the near and 35 countries of the far abroad study in the specialty "Medical science" at TulSU. Today's event gathered both those who are still studying and the graduates. The conference for all of them, Olga Dmitriyevna emphasized, is an effective platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices.
Two reports were presented at the plenary session.
Yelena Sergeyevna Belyanskaya, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Devices and Biotechnical Systems, devoted her speech to the development of emotional intelligence among students.
Dmitry Alexandrovich Savelyev, an anti-doping specialist at the Tula Region National Team Sports Training Center, spoke about the dry blood spot method for sampling as part of doping control.
The conference was held in eight sections: "Issues of clinical medicine", "Innovative technologies in obstetrics and gynecology: from diagnosis to therapy", "Mental health", "Medical devices and systems", "Medical developments for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation", "Educational technologies in medicine", "Biomedical and methodological technologies in physical education, sports and health protection", "Scientific research of schoolchildren".
The young participants delighted the organizers with a variety of topics, from the benefits of vocal lessons and the role of fluorides in prevention of dental caries to statistical analysis methods in predicting morbidity and the relationship of epidemiology with fundamental sciences.
An excursion to the Mineralogical Museum of the Institute of Construction and Architecture was organized for schoolchildren as part of the scientific event.
