Education in Russia is the Key to Success

On January 17, in the co-working space of Tula State University, there was held a seminar for foreign citizens on how to correctly submit an application for education within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation on http://education-in-russia.com portal.

The event was organized by Institute of International Education.

The seminar was attended by students taking a pre-university training course at Institute of International Relations, students completing the last year of a bachelor's, specialist's or master's degree and wishing to continue their studies in the Russian Federation, as well as those students who study on a commercial basis in the first year of a bachelor's or master's degree, but want to transferred to a place with a scholarship.

The seminar was held for them by Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, head of Institute of International Education.

She said that the number of places allocated to foreign citizens for study within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation in academic year 2023/2024 was increased to 30,000.

According to the speaker, the quota is an opportunity not only to study without a tuition fee, but also to get an academic scholarship every month.

In Russia, only two organizations have quotas for training foreign citizens. These are the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

— Application procedure for studying in Russia started on December 24, 2022 and it will last until February 20, 2023, — said Olga Dmitrievna. — Each of you, guys, just needs to take advantage of this opportunity!

Head of Institute of International Education spoke in great detail about all the nuances of the application procedure.

The first step, she explained, is registration on http://education-in-russia.com portal. After that, you need to get into your personal account. Those students who have been living in Russia for several years, can do this via Gosuslugi portal.

Each candidate must fill in an application for study, select an educational program and 6 universities of the Russian Federation in which they would like to study, taking into account the hierarchy of preferences, upload a scanned copy of the signed application, attach the necessary documents to the application for study, and provide information about knowledge of foreign languages and achievements that give a competitive advantage.

The selection of candidates takes place in two stages.

The first one is carried out by Rossotrudnichestvo on the territory of the foreign country, and the second one is carried out by educational organizations that are ready to accept for training those who have successfully passed through the first stage.

Foreigners who are already studying in Russia, head of Institute of International Education emphasized, the selection is organized online.

After the seminar, all participants had the opportunity to ask the speaker questions of interest to them.

Anastasia Egorova, a fourth-year student, taking a Journalism program at Institute of International Education, is from Azerbaijan.

“I have such experience, because I was also admitted to study via Rossotrudnichestvo,” she said. — I'm thinking about continuing my studies taking master’s courses. So, I am very pleased that I got to this seminar and received additional information.
