Speak English on the bank of the Oka River
The second English-language summer school "Dive into Science!" of Tula State University began its work on Saturday, July 29, in the educational and recreational complex "Polytechnik".
The second time - a hint of tradition and time to open new horizons. This year "Dive into Science!" - is already more than a school or a discussion club. Now it is an international technological acceleratorof TSU, uniting fifty of the most active undergraduate and graduate students, including twenty foreign students. The school gives students of any field of study the opportunity to create a startup project from their own ideas and scientific and technical developments. And, of course, to pump up their English, make new friends and spend ten days under the pine trees on the bank of the river Vashana, near Oka.
- The school united the most active students, those who are engaged in science, looking into the future, - said, addressing the participants, TSU Vice-Rector for International and Project ActivitiesOlesyaLabadze. - The projects that you will start here will have a continuation - you will be able to develop them within the walls of the university, thanks to our startup studio, and the most interesting ideas will be able to claim victory in the competition "Student Startup" and get a million rubles from the state for development. Let me remind you that there are already millionaires at our university!
During ten days, students will enjoy a rich educational and cultural program. Discussion club "Pump Your English Up!", communicative and project games "Revolver", "Agora", "Field of Coherence" and others. Excursions in English, including to the Kaluga Museum of Cosmonautics and the Polenovo Museum-Reserve. For those in the know, here are the titles of several classes: "Scientists Are More Creative Than You Might Imagine", "An Overview of Essay Development: Introduction, Body, Conclusion", "Impact of Technology on Our Lives: Can It Change the Human Body In the Long Run?", "Was That for Real?", "Pioneers of Space: Gag? Pioneers of Space: Gagarin, Ride, Armstrong and more".
During the whole period of the school "Dive into Science!" participants will be accompanied by the specialists of the startup studio of TSU. On September 15, the university will launch the next cycle of entrepreneurial gas pedal, in which project teams created during the summer school will be able to participate.
- As it was believed at the beginning of the last century, an educated person should know a language. Now the situation is somewhat different, and we emphasize English, which is necessary for young scientists and specialists to study world experience and publish in international journals," said YuryAndreevichChadaev, head of the TSU startup studio. - Proper communication in a team is an important component of success. That is why in the school "Dive into Science!" we emphasize not only interdisciplinary but also intercultural interaction. The guys have a very busy schedule. I am sure that in this relatively short period of time they will be able to create interesting projects, with which they will then continue to work.
