TulSU at the Russian-Indian Education Summit

The Russian-Indian Educational Summit 2024 with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India was held from the 11-th to the 13-th of  April in the Republic of India. The platform of this Summit was the Russian House in New Delhi (the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of India).
The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India Denis Alipov, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Denis Gribov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov, representatives of Indian and Russian universities, including a delegation from Tula State University.
The Education Summit is the first large-scale event in the history of Russian-Indian relations dedicated to cooperation in the field of education. On the margins of the summit, panel discussions, an exhibition of educational opportunities of Russian universities "Russian Education 2024", round tables and visits to Indian universities were organised.
In addition to Russian universities, the representatives of Indian government and business, Indian universities, staff of the Russian Embassy in India and the Indian Embassy in Moscow, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian House in New Delhi also took part in this summit.
On the first day of the summit, three introductory panel discussions were held on the following topics:
"Russia-India-BRICS: the role of higher education in the development of comprehensive cooperation";
"Career opportunities for Indian graduates of Russian universities and business as a customer of Indian personnel training in Russia";
"Cooperation between Russia and India in the field of medical education", as well as a round table "Technical Universities".
On the second day of the summit, about 60 Russian universities, including medical, technical, humanitarian and classical universities of Russia, presented their educational opportunities to a wide Indian audience. Schoolchildren and students learnt about the opportunities for higher education in Russia, conditions of admission to Russian universities and employment in Russia. Potential Indian applicants showed great interest in educational programmes in medicine, engineering, management, economics and IT.
For the third time already, Olga Dmitriyevna Gladkova, the Director of the Institute of International Education of Tula State University, took part in an educational exhibition in New Delhi, the capital of the Republic of India. To this exhibition, she brought souvenir products of the university and the Tula region, presentation materials about the educational opportunities of TulSU in English, as well as video materials containing stories of foreign students about the university in English and Hindi.
During the exhibition, personal communication with the Director of the IFE allowed potential applicants to find out details of interest not only about the various educational programmes of TulSU, particularly "Medicine" in English, but also about the living conditions, the peculiarities of the university location, socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students.
The business programme of the third day of the summit included a meeting of the Russian-Indian Association in the field of science and education, as well as a tour of Indian universities.
"The Summit provides an unprecedented platform for leading Indian and Russian universities to engage in transformative dialogue and exchange. Today, Russian education continues to meet high standards and maintain a competitive bar in many areas in the field. Among the advantages of studying in Russia are the inherent quality of education, the cultural code and the great opportunities for self-realisation of the younger generation. It remains important to maintain interest to Russia abroad, promote domestic technological potential and facilitate the adaptation of foreign students in our country," emphasised Pavel Anatolievich Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo.
At the current moment, 17 citizens of the Republic of India are mastering the English-language educational programme "Medicine" at Tula State University.
Russian education in India is traditionally in growing demand, especially in the field of medical professions. Indians get the medical education in Russia have the opportunity to start practicing medicine or teaching after returning to their home country.
