Only straight on with TulSU!
The last Open Doors Day of this academic year took place on May 18 at Tula State University.
It impressed both with the number of guests and with the format. The innovative highlight was the career guidance exhibition of TulSU partners. The visitors got acquainted not only with a wide range of training areas and specialties implemented by the university, but also with those enterprises and organizations where they can come after their graduation and build a successful career.
There were very interesting thematic master classes organized for the applicants: “CyberLab: take a look into the world of information security”, “Developing a graphical interface using Python”, “Biophysical aspects of living systems”, “Build your first spacecraft”, “Photonics - the magic of light”, “Nowhere without electricity!”. The guests also had an opportunity to participate in the political science quiz “I am a citizen of Russia!”.
The Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences prepared an extraordinary program under the intriguing title “Cultural trip to the House of Creative Industries”. An amazing journey awaited the visitors. They had to find the Treasury of Journalism, magically find themselves in the Field of Miracles, “practice witchcraft” in the Laboratory of Sociological Wisdoms, work fruitfully in the Language Workshop, get into the Lobby of Fantastic Ideas and take part in the Meeting without Ties. Undoubtedly, all these immersive events allowed girls and boys choosing their professional future to realize even more deeply how multifaceted Tula State University is, what opportunities it gives to its students and what prospects it opens for its graduates.
The exhibition telling about the achievements of all structural subdivisions of Tula State University amazed everyone, and these are not just beautiful words!
The Department of Radioelectronics at the V.P. Gryazev Institute of High-Precision Systems demonstrated models of a radio receiver, an electronic clock and even a smart traffic light reacting to traffic - all this was worked up by the students themselves.
Tula Engineering School “Intellectual Defense Systems” presented (among other exhibits) a large-scale copy of a combat robotic complex, which will be manufactured together with students according to the technical assignment of the defense industry enterprise.
In the Polytechnic Institute demonstration space presented materials with damping properties and shape memory effect, powdered materials, special steels and alloys, a 3D printer for additive technologies, an ultrasonic flaw detector, and much more.
By tradition, people crowded around the stands of the Natural Science Institute. There were not only applicants who were going to enter this structural unit, but also people who preferred other areas of training and specialties. Indeed, who would deny himself the pleasure to admire various living systems and learn about the chemical properties of inorganic substances!
Students of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences introduced their projects to the guests. They create their own computer games, develop navigation programs and even make films about how interesting it is to study at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences.
It is worth noting that the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences did not limit itself to the project “Cultural trip to the House of Creative Industries”.
The guests of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences had an opportunity to watch two movies. One was devoted to the Institute itself, and the other to media communications. They were filmed, as it is easy to guess, by students of “Advertising and Public Relations”, “Media Communications” and “Journalism”. In addition, everyone could undergo psychological testing using two methods.
The geography of the participants could not fail to please on this day. People came not only from all corners of the Tula region, but also from other regions. This shows that Tula State University is known and loved.
Ulyana Khanina was accompanied by her mother, Natalya Ivanovna, and father, Alexander Nikolayevich.

The rector invited the visitors to become members of a large and friendly family of students of Tula State University. It is here, he said, that they will be able to find, create and surprise - to develop their creative potential and move only forward.
As is well known, the key partner of the Tula Engineering School “Intellectual Defense Systems”, established on the basis of Tula State University, is JSC “Academician A.G. Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau”.
The leading partner in the strategic project “Perspective Armament” is JSC “Research and Production Association ‘SPLAV’ named after A.N. Ganichev”, and within the framework of the program “Priority 2030” in the strategic project “Composite” - JSC “Shchekinoazot”.

The ritual popular with applicants - a fascinating quiz - was not forgotten.
However, this time it included six questions: three from the partners and three from TulSU.
The winners were eleventh graders Maxim, Olga, Mariya, Gleb, Kseniya and Leya. All of them received TulSU merch as a gift. It is gratifying that they absorbed the received information to the maximum and managed to give correct answers. By the way, Olga, Mariya and Gleb will enter the Institute of High Precision Systems named after V.P. Gryazev. Maxim wants to prove himself in the IT-industry, Kseniya dreams to become a guardian of children's health, and Leya has given preference to the biological direction. But all together they chose Tula State University.
Vladislav Viktorovich Kotov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs devoted his speech to the peculiarities of the admission campaign.
- Tula State University is a leader in the number of budgetary places. More than one and a half thousand places were allocated for full-time specialization and bachelor's degree. And this is a record number for the last ten years! Another 255 budget places are set for admission to specialties of secondary vocational education and 330 - to the Master's program.
Vladislav Viktorovich said that now the competition and enrollment for commercial places will be held once, moreover, enrollment will take place only after the budgetary admission. Therefore, each applicant must first try to get on the budget and only then, in case of failure, they will participate in enrollment for commercial places.
Last year it was decided to reduce to zero the cost of education for those applicants who enrolled on paid places of IT-specialties and had at least 180 points on the results of the USE. This practice, the vice-rector said, will be expanded. In addition to IT-specialties, the Academic Council of the university has allocated 5 places each in the fields of “Economics” and “Theology”.
Vladislav Viktorovich emphasized that each specialty has its own set of entrance tests.
The speaker gave the visitors valuable advice: before choosing the necessary USE subjects for admission, it is necessary first to decide on the set of specialties.
Vladislav Viktorovich explained that the largest number of educational programs becomes available with the set “Russian language + mathematics and physics or computer science”. With it you can choose from 36 different areas of training and specialties of technical and economic orientation and more than 1000 budget places.
This year, continued the vice-rector, applicants have the right to apply for admission to no more than 5 universities. At the same time, they can choose up to five different directions and specialties of any form of education at TulSU. Along with budgetary places in each direction there are additional commercial places.
According to Vladislav Viktorovich, one can get 10 points for a portfolio. This is a requirement of the federal admission procedure and such a limit is set in all universities of the country.
The most common individual achievement is writing a final essay with a “pass” grade. It gives an additional 1 point. Another 10 points can be obtained for a certificate with honors or a red diploma of a college or technical school graduate.
The speaker told the guests about the unified federal platform for working with target places “Work in Russia”. With the start of admission, all employers' offers to have target contracts with applicants will be placed on it. Now the contract is signed after the competitive selection and enrollment, that is, in the period until September 1.
Vladislav Viktorovich elaborated on the terms of the admission campaign and the necessary documents, as well as explained how to understand the competition situation.
The final chord of the Open Doors Day was mini-meetings in the institutes of TulSU.
