Honest Talk with Rector

January 25, Tatyana's Day, the rector of Tula State University Oleg Alexandrovich Kravchenko met with the students of the university.

The event was held in the format of free communication. Oleg Alexandrovich warmly greeted the guys. Now boys and girls, he stressed, have the best time. Their book of life is open in an interesting place, and they have many new pages ahead of them, which they will fill with their deeds and achievements.

But the student time, the rector emphasized, is not only study, but also communication with friends. The student world is beautiful because a person shows independence, learns to overcome difficulties, including those of a domestic nature. Oleg Alexandrovich said that, as a student, he lived in a hostel. According to him, he learned to cook there. Now you can buy semi-finished products on every corner, but then it was difficult. So he had to contrive and conjure at the stove. This was the era of VCRs and video parlors, and there was also a tradition of throwing parties in the dorms. On one of them, he met his future life partner. Studying at the university, the rector shared, he remembered excellent teachers who always supported students, instilled self-confidence. He continues to communicate with some of his classmates to this day.

During the meeting, the students asked the rector many questions.

The representative of the KVN movement Yegor Zhuravlev told about  a festival that was recently held in Sochi. Three teams from Tula State University took part in it, which became possible thanks to the support of the university. One of our teams received an increased rating based on the results of the performance. Egor conveyed to Oleg Alexandrovich a Gratitude signed by Alexander Vasilyevich Maslyakov and invited him to the festival of the TSU League, asking him to pronounce the main words for each member of the Club of the cheerful and resourceful: "We are starting KVN." Yegor also asked the rector if he had experience playing KVN. Without humor, answered Oleg Aleksandrovich, life is hard, and therefore he always perceives good humor well, even if sometimes critical.

He never participated in KVN itself, but he managed to try himself in creative competitions. There are universities that add an art component to engineering education so that future designers and technologists can think creatively.

Representatives of the KVN movement of TSU not only asked questions, but also put forward proposals, for example, on the possibility of holding KVN games on the basis of the Educational and Recreational Complex “ Polytechnic”. The rector promised to support the initiative.

Student of the Institute of High Precision Systems. V.P. Gryazeva Elizaveta Ivannikova asked the rector what he was fond of in his student years. Oleg Alexandrovich noted that most people did not have computers and processors then. But he personally had a programmable calculator, primitive by today's standards, which helped him form the logic of thinking. And among the hobby was radio electronics. Egor Evseev from the Institute of Precision Systems. V.P. Gryazeva also lives in a hostel. The guy knows many student signs. Yegor asked if there were any signs during Oleg Alexandrovich's student days that helped him in his studies. The rector replied that he did not particularly believe in omens. And there was no need for them, because studying was easy. But he personally really likes the main sign of TSU - Drakosha.

“The monument to Khvost is just amazing! Exclusive! added the rector. - There is no such thing anywhere!

Gleb Knyazev from the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science asked Oleg Alexandrovich to tell if there was a case with the extension of the session in his student days. It turned out that there was such a thing in the life of the rector of TSU.Student Kravchenko decided to get a drive license. Well, I didn’t have time to prepare for the test in the discipline “Theory of Electric Drive”. And at that time, students were not allowed to take exams until they had passed all the tests.

Then Kravchenko came to the administration and honestly admitted that he was not ready to pass the test. Asked for time. They believed him and made an exception. He successfully passed the test after the exam. And got drive license!

A student of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Anastasia Chizhova asked a very personal question, how to successfully combine family life with studies? Oleg Alexandrovich said that he himself got married three months after defending his Ph.D. thesis, he knows from his own experience that raising a child is a colossal job. But to postpone the birth of children, in his opinion, still should not be. He is ready to support student families with children. The rector reminded that the university also has its own kindergarten "Solnyshko".

Kirill Tyurin from the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science asked what changes are expected in the near future at TSU. The rector said that the academic building No. 5 and the façade of the dormitory No. 6/1 are currently being renovated, work in the academic building No. 3 is nearing completion. The plans include the repair of individual auditoriums and the foyer of the concert hall, the improvement of those areas of the campus where unnecessary buildings were removed

Oleg Alexandrovich stressed that he is aware of the problems in the main, eighth and ninth educational buildings. But subsidies are needed here. A number of university infrastructure development projects will be implemented as part of the Priority 2030 program, in which TulSU became a full participant last year.

A student of the Institute of International Education, Umedjon Nasredinov, asked Oleg Alexandrovich how important, in his opinion, the international environment is in the learning process. The rector said that foreign students did not study directly in his group. He encountered international groups already as a teacher. In his opinion, acquaintance with the traditions and culture of the peoples of other countries will serve well in the future when building partnerships with foreign companies.

Anastasia Kosina, a student at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, asked Oleg Aleksandrovich how students of his generation differ from those of today.

Previously, they talked more live, Oleg Alexandrovich said, they gathered more often, invited friends, played chess, exchanged impressions. And now, unfortunately, there is a gap in communications. Sometimes a person does not even bother talking on the phone, but simply writes an SMS. At the same time, young people today are more critical of the information they receive. In addition, modern young people are actively involved in sports. Now it is fashionable to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The rector himself honestly admitted that he does not engage in systemic sports. Prefers jogging, playing volleyball, swimming in the pool. He is convinced that with a reasonable physical load, the head begins to work better, which in turn contributes to the adoption of non-standard decisions. Sergey Bukanov, a student at the Medical Institute, asked the rector to give advice to today's youth, based on his own life experience. — Do not be afraid to act and boldly make decisions! Don't be afraid to make mistakes! To learn from your mistakes! Remember: the one who does nothing is not mistaken. After the meeting with the rector of TSU, the students talked with representatives of the partner of the university - the Tula regional branch of Sberbank  - the regional director for work with authorities, a graduate of TSU Nikita Nikolaev and the head of payroll projects Veronika Kuznetsova. The guests presented the university with a SBERdevice to organize the educational process.

Oleg Alexandrovich suggested leaving a gift in the coworking space so that all the guys could use it.
